The historic funicular ascends from the valley to the Reichenbach Falls, a place Sir Arthur Conan Doyle forever linked with the final confrontation between Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty. The literary story here is not separate from the landscape — water, rock and history form one whole.
After the ascent, it is possible to continue with a short mountain walk around the falls and complete the day with a visit to the Sherlock Holmes Museum in the centre of Meiringen. A pleasant way to combine nature with one of the city's most characteristic stories.
